What it Takes to be an Effective Data Technician
By Admin In BlogOne of Pentecom’s many job categories is “Data Technician.” What IS a Data Technician, you ask? At Pentecom, our Data Technicians are our work horses. They are the ones in the conversion trenches; the ones who make sure that each document is converted correctly. So, what does it take to BE an effective Data Technician?
- For starters, you must have a good working knowledge of how to use a computer and its basic programs.
- Every document that we work with is different, so you must develop an in-depth knowledge of the procedures and ask questions whenever you are unsure of how to handle an issue.
- We work in a production environment, so you have to be able to use your time wisely and work efficiently by applying shortcuts and using the tools (e.g., macros) provided.
- And, most importantly, you must have a keen eye for detail with the ability to distinguish between upper/lower case characters, numbers, bold, italics, punctuation, etc.
In conclusion, to be a good Data Tech, you have to be able to follow the rules, not prone to wasting time, and have to be excellent in attending to details. You must be able to catch errors that most people would miss.
