The S1000D Steering Committee accepted Pentecom’s proposal and our team is engaged in the development and adoption of this standard. Currently, only proprietary options exist.

We Advocate for Standardization
Pentecom is engaged in the development and adoption of a standard for interactive flow tracing and simulation aimed at improving IETM use by providing functionality for flow tracing and limited simulation.
The S1000D Steering Committee accepted Pentecom’s proposed standard (CPF_2023- 001US – Illustration flow trace and simulation). We are coordinating with industry and IETM software vendors to encourage implementation in tools.
The standard fits well in the S1000D specification and can be used with flow diagrams (wiring, hydraulics, pneumatics, hydro-mechanical) in any specification.
The technical solution is based on a standardized XML file that is authored and applied to existing vector diagrams. It enables path highlighting within and across sheets and animation of components such as switches, valves, and circuit breakers.
